Hey what’s up my name is Salute the Soldier! I teamed up with a legend in the independent music scene, NUBS from Odd Squad Family, to bring the unquestionably most motivational hip-hop song of the year called ‚Out The Casket‘. NUBS was born with a rare condition that left him without fully developed arms and legs but more importantly, a hunger to overcome and inspire the world with his story. This experience paired exquisitely with salutes time spent overseas in combat. The result is an unforgettable track that will raise the hair on the back of your neck.

Erzähl uns von dir, wer bist du und woher kommst du?

I’m an up-and-coming artist out of Charlotte North Carolina who started writing music while doing a Medevac rotation in Afghanistan. I have used Music to overcome the negative effects of depression, anxiety, and constant PTSD and hope to heal others through the power of music.

Wie wurde deine Leidenschaft für Musik geboren? Wer sind deine Vorbilder?

I have been obsessed with music ever since I was born. I started off in cowboy boots and a diaper screaming rodeo by Garth Brooks at the top of my lungs from the family fireplace. My fathers love for rock ‘n’ roll plays heavily into my sound today. Queen, Bon Jovi, Hank Williams Jr and AC/DC were the soundtrack of my youth. My younger years were spent on the West Coast where I was introduced to hip-hop artist such as ice cube, 2Pac, Nate Dogg, Eminem, snoop Dogg etc. For me and hip-hop, it was love at first sight. When I moved to the East Coast at 15 I was introduced to a whole new world of hip hop. New heroes like Andre, Nas, Ludacris, TI, lil Wayne, lil boosie! These people inspired me either lyrically or with the energy/emotion they brought to the song.

Welche Art von Musik machst du?

I do alternative hip-hop with some rock ‘n’ roll soul and some blues baby! Hahaha I put my heart into my music and make music that you feel.

Was ist der wichtigste Song für dich? Welche Botschaft willst du den Zuhörern vermitteln?

For my song “Out The Casket‘ song I want to convey the message that nothing is impossible. No matter what life gives, you no matter what is thrown your way, the ability to overcome is always a decision. And with that knowledge comes the responsibility to inspire.

They may see themselves in it.

Was sind deine zukünftigen Projekte? Wo siehst du dich in 5 Jahren?

Right now I have 24 songs written and recorded the world has yet to hear and they’re better than anything I have put now…. In five years I see myself on top of the world.

The first time I ever got to go backstage at a major concert it was at soul fest in Charlotte North Carolina. I was in the green room and didn’t really know where to stand so I found a little room and sat down. Five minutes later Erykah Badu walked in with her mother and her security and they were immediately throwing me out the room! Hahahah good times.
