Erzähl uns von dir, wer bist du und woher kommst du?

Hi! My name is Uta Tanabe. I am an 18-year-old Japanese high school student. I have been influenced by so much music since I was a child, and I have composed, written, performed, and recorded everything by myself. In this way, I have developed my own style. I understand more than anyone else the sound of real instruments and the beauty of the harmony of the human voice.

Wie wurde deine Leidenschaft für Musik geboren? Wer sind deine Vorbilder?

Due to my parent’s influence, I first became interested in the Beatles when I was a couple of years old. The Red and Blue album made me a total fan, and I listened to every Beatles album and every rock music from the 1950s (from Chuck Berry and Elvis). I fell in love with a lot of music, guitar, and piano. And discovered Bill Evans and Jacob Collier when I was 10 years old. It was a real shock. That was the moment I was introduced to jazz. Since then, I have believed in the possibilities of music in every sense of the word. I think Jacob Collier might really be a hero for me now.

Welche Art von Musik machst du?

Jazz contemporary, fusion, jazz progressive music, as well as alternative music based on jazz, in which I compose, compose, compose, and perform with one person on all instruments. Especially in my music, vocal harmony and interesting chord progressions play a very important role. I am still trying to master it. The end does not exist.

Was ist der wichtigste Song für dich? Welche Botschaft willst du den Zuhörern vermitteln?

„My Three Years Old Self Said“ and „Just Give Me Seven Seconds“. Both songs are too important to me. I really hope you will listen to these songs. I have been told by all kinds of people, and very well-known major record label producers, that this is art itself. Please listen to my music. It may sound a little strange at first, but you will realize that this is the door to a new era.

Warum sollte ein Hörer, der dich nicht kennt, deine Musik hören?

To know a new world, to immerse oneself in it, to discover new possibilities. The power of music is very, very great. You will realize it.

Was sind deine zukünftigen Projekte? Wo siehst du dich in 5 Jahren?

I want to improve my jazz music skills in college. And I want to learn them and create more and more different worlds. In the process, I want to offer you all a variety of music. I will become a great artist that everyone knows. Let’s go to Madison Square Garden. My concert is waiting for you.
