Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

Jorge Natalin: Exploring Genre-Bending Music and Art from Amsterdam

Abstract, high-contrast sepia-toned image of Jorge Natalin's face, partially obscured and artistically distorted, giving a mysterious and surreal appearance.Jorge Natalin, the alter ego of Arno Tijnagel, is a musician, photographer, and conceptual artist from Amsterdam, Netherlands. Inspired by his brother’s guitar playing in his youth, Jorge’s passion for music grew into a lifelong pursuit, leading him to create a diverse and experimental body of work. His style defies traditional genres, blending elements of modern, avant-garde, and experimental sounds, including organic guitar techno, trip rock, and underground influences. Jorge’s approach is deeply rooted in his own enjoyment of creation, aiming for listeners to find the same joy in his music.

Throughout his career, Jorge has been involved in various musical projects, starting as a rhythm guitarist in the rock band Kayanda, and later collaborating with artists like Thomas Midfield, Huron, and the Jim Offerman Band. He also recorded with DJ Rombout under the moniker Souvenirs. His discography spans 11 solo albums, numerous EPs, singles, and soundtracks for award-winning films. Currently, Jorge is set to release his 12th album, „Coming Down From Heaven,“ which marks a shift towards a singer-songwriter style, featuring songs that highlight his voice alongside acoustic guitar.

Looking to the future, Jorge envisions continuing to explore new musical directions and sharing his unique sound with audiences worldwide. He hopes that those unfamiliar with his work will be intrigued by his genre-defying music, which often steps outside the ordinary and offers listeners something distinctively different.

Erzähl uns von dir, wer bist du und woher kommst du?

Jorge Natalin is the alter ego for Arno Tijnagel. I am a musician/ photographer and conceptual artist from Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Wie wurde deine Leidenschaft für Musik geboren? Wer sind deine Vorbilder?

In my adolescence, I started playing guitar because I saw my talented brother Menno playing it. I became so inspired by this and decided that I would like to be able to do the same myself. And yes, as they often say, practice makes perfect. I could not have imagined then that I could be here musically now.

Welche Art von Musik machst du?

#guitar #modern #contemporary #genre- bending #avant- garde #experimental #organicguitartechno #triprock #underground

Was ist der wichtigste Song für dich? Welche Botschaft willst du den Zuhörern vermitteln?

Too many to mention. I hope that the listener enjoys my music just as much as I enjoy creating it.

Warum sollte ein Hörer, der dich nicht kennt, deine Musik hören?

Because maybe the listener would like to discover new music. And maybe because my music is just a little out of the ordinary, at least that is the feedback I receive most of the time.

Was sind deine zukünftigen Projekte? Wo siehst du dich in 5 Jahren?

This December I will be releasing my new album, number 12. It is titled ‚Coming Down From Heaven‘. This album was conceived on the acoustic guitar and features songs where I also use my voice. This new album could be classified as ’singer- songwriter‘. This new album is something different than what I did with my previous, mostly instrumental, albums ‚In wording‘, or ‚Chromosome‘.
