Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

Who is Savi Kaboo?

Savi Kaboo is a singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer with Egyptian-American roots – and a deep love for self-expression in all forms. She’s been releasing music since 2020, and her songs combine personal storytelling with bold visuals and genre-blending beats. Savi writes and produces her tracks herself, creates her own cover art, and edits her music videos too. Her mission? To spread peace, love, glitter, and unapologetic individuality.

Tell us about your new song „In the Wind“.

„In the Wind“ is about letting go – of people, of expectations, of things that no longer serve you – and allowing yourself to drift toward where you’re meant to be. There’s a bittersweet feeling to it, like standing in the middle of change and not being sure if it’s grief or freedom you’re feeling. I really wanted to capture that tension.

What message do you want to share with this release?

That it’s okay to change and release old things that don’t align with you anymore. Sometimes your soul just needs time and space to breathe.

What’s next for you?

More music, always. I’ve been experimenting with different sounds and I definitely want to perform more. And I also wanna keep spreading my core message: just be real!

Erzähl uns von dir, wer bist du und woher kommst du?

I’m Savi Kaboo – a singer, rapper, songwriter and producer. I grew up between cultures, which really shaped how I see the world and how I make music. I write all my songs in English, since it’s my first language, and I use music as a way to express everything I feel – especially the things that are hard to. Besides making music, I’m also a visual artist. I design all my own covers and like to make some of my music videos myself. For me, it’s all part of the same creative vision. My vibe is a mix of raw emotion, glitter, softness, and rebellion – I stand for peace, love, and full-on self-acceptance. My motto is: dare to be yourself.

Wie wurde deine Leidenschaft für Musik geboren? Wer sind deine Vorbilder?

Art has always been my outlet – even before I knew I was going to make it my life. As a kid, I was obsessed with artists who had something real to say or who weren’t afraid to be different. Eminem’s rawness, Bob Marley’s message, Lil Peep’s emotion, Lana Del Rey’s aesthetic – they all shaped how I think about art. Now, I mostly listen to drum and bass, hip-hop, and indie pop. But when I create, I try not to sound like anyone else. I don’t want to copy what I hear – I want to tap into what’s inside me. My ideas usually come from emotion or moments I can’t put into words yet. Then I build a sound around that. For me, music isn’t about fitting into a genre – it’s about making something honest that resonates. Creating is a very freeing process to me. It’s where I feel most like myself. I don’t overthink it – I just let the emotion guide me.

Welche Art von Musik machst du?

I make anything that feels right to me in the moment. Recently my sound has been moving between contemporary R&B, indie pop, and drum and bass. I don’t like to box myself into one genre – it really depends on what the emotion of the song needs. I’m always experimenting and evolving, and the main point is that there’s always an honest core to everything I create.

Was ist der wichtigste Song für dich? Welche Botschaft willst du den Zuhörern vermitteln?

Right now, my most important song is definitely my newest release, “In the Wind.” It came from a really vulnerable place – that feeling of being between phases in life, not knowing exactly where you’re headed, but choosing to trust the process anyway. The message I want to share is: it’s okay to let go. It’s okay to drift, to not have all the answers, to grow out of things and people. There’s beauty in uncertainty. “In the Wind” is about allowing yourself release old weight, because sometimes that’s where you find yourself again. I hope the song makes people feel seen and gives them space to just be – without pressure or fear.

Warum sollte ein Hörer, der dich nicht kennt, deine Musik hören?

Because it’s real. I don’t try to sound like anyone else or follow trends – I just create what feels true to me. My music is authentic, emotional, and honest. If you’re someone who feels deeply, who sometimes feels out of place, or who’s just looking for something that doesn’t fake a vibe – you might find a piece of yourself in my songs.

Was sind deine zukünftigen Projekte? Wo siehst du dich in 5 Jahren?

Right now, I’m working on two new songs that I’m so excited about – they both feel like new sides of me. I’m really letting myself experiment more with sound, and I can’t wait to share what’s coming next! In five years, I see myself performing more and continuing to grow as both an artist and a producer. I want to stay independent and keep using my platform to spread peace make people feel safe to be themselves. That’s always the core of everything I do.

There was this feature track I did where I honestly thought we were just messing around and making the whole thing for fun. After we finished recording, mixing, and everything, I found out it was actually getting released! I was totally caught off guard.
