Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

My name is Marly Sladek (alias Voldex) and I’m a 21 year old music producer from Hamburg, Germany.

Erzähl uns von dir, wer bist du und woher kommst du?

Regarding myself, I am currently working on my bachelors degree in music technology at the University of West London. Besides producing electronic music, I play the electric guitar since age 5 as well as drums since age 12.

Wie wurde deine Leidenschaft für Musik geboren? Wer sind deine Vorbilder?

I’ve been in love with music pretty much since I was born. I loved listening to 80s and rock music when I was very little. I’ve been listening to a lot of Kiss, Metallica, Green Day, AC/DC, George Michael and so on. In conclusion, I started getting guitar lessons early on in life. My biggest goal always was to have a metal band and play shows all around the globe. This later changed after finding my passion for EDM. My current idols are Atmozfears, Adrenalize, and Sickmode.

Welche Art von Musik machst du?

I’ve been making electronic music since 2012 and the last couple of years I have found my passion in producing Harder Styles (Euphoric Hardstyle, Rawstyle, Xtra Raw, Uptempo). Before producing these genres I mainly made Trap and House music. As of now, I’m trying to include Trap and House influences in my recent music. Also, I have a habit for combining melodic emotional elements with hard-hitting heavy distorted kick drums.

Was ist der wichtigste Song für dich? Welche Botschaft willst du den Zuhörern vermitteln?

My most important song that I have ever released would be my recent Euphoric Hardstyle track „Love You Anyway“ which was released on Diversity Recordings. This song really shows my love for emotional melodic elements, key changes, and powerful kick drums. The meaning of the song also has a special place in my heart as I wrote the song for a crush I had at that time. It pretty much translates my emotions into sounds that get complimented by the lovely female vocals.

Warum sollte ein Hörer, der dich nicht kennt, deine Musik hören?

Honestly, if I make only one person smile with my music, I’m already super happy. Therefore, my biggest intention with my music is to give people joy. I’m always trying to make relatable music that touches the heart of the listener.

Was sind deine zukünftigen Projekte? Wo siehst du dich in 5 Jahren?

Currently, I’m working on creating my own style inside the music genre I’m producing. I’m still in the middle of finding out what „Voldex“ is all about but I’m slowly getting there. In 5 years from now, I see myself performing in clubs and small festivals. As of now, I hadn’t had a DJ booking yet but I’m sure the future has a lot planned for me! Always chase your dreams and stay positive!

Erzähle unseren Lesern eine lustige Episode aus deiner Karriere als Künstlerin.

I guess one funny thing that happened in my career is that I brought the Harder Styles genre on Trap Nation twice. In 2018, I have released an Happy Hardcore Remix of „Keep Me Awake by Atmozfears“ and out of nowhere it got uploaded to Trap Nation even though it has nothing to do with Trap music at all. Happy Hardcore Nation!
