Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

Khaile Emjey Esquivel, born Mei Anne Jiongco, is a Filipino singer-songwriter, author, and creative visionary with Spanish, Chinese, and Filipino roots. Her artistry bridges both music and literature, weaving emotional depth and real-life storytelling into every work she creates.

Known for her heartfelt lyrics and evocative writing, Khaile Emjey brings her words to life through music that blends Pop, Country Pop, and OPM influences. Her songs carry stories that touch the heart — “The Night It Rains” reflects the quiet ache of a breakup on a cold June night; “Make It Right” captures the bittersweet feeling of meeting a first love again and wanting to fix what once broke; and “Wishing Well” expresses her longing for a lifetime of love and moments shared with family.

As an author, Khaile Emjey has also made her mark in international publishing platforms, writing stories that explore emotion, resilience, and self-discovery. Her works mirror her belief that art — whether in words or melody — is a language of healing and connection.

Through her journey, she continues to represent the strength and creativity of Filipino talent while embracing the cultural blend that shaped her identity. To her, music and writing are more than just art forms — they are ways to tell the truth, inspire courage, and remind others that even pain can create something beautiful.

Parle-nous de toi, qui es-tu et d'où viens-tu ?

I’m Khaile Emjey Esquivel, a Filipino singer-songwriter and author with Spanish, Chinese, and Filipino roots. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and I’ve always been passionate about expressing emotions through both words and music. My creative journey started with writing stories and poetry, which eventually grew into songwriting — a space where I can turn feelings and experiences into melodies.

Comment est née ta passion pour la musique ? Qui sont tes idoles ?

My passion for music was born from emotion itself. Growing up, I used to write poems and short stories to express what I couldn’t say out loud. Eventually, those words started to feel like melodies in my head — that’s when I realized music was another way to tell my stories. I began writing songs during quiet nights, using music to heal, to remember, and to speak my truth. What started as a hobby became my safe place — and now, it’s something I want to share with others who might find comfort in the same way I did.

Quel genre de musique fais-tu ?

I create Pop, Country Pop, and OPM music

Quelle est la chanson la plus importante pour toi ? Quel message veux-tu transmettre à l'auditeur ?

The most important song for me is “Wishing Well.” It’s very personal because it’s about wishing for more time — especially with the people you love, like your family. It’s a song that came from a deep place in my heart, written during a moment when I realized how fragile and precious time really is. The message I want to share through “Wishing Well” is simple but powerful: cherish every moment, say what you feel, and don’t take the people you love for granted. Life moves fast, and sometimes we forget that even ordinary days can become the memories we’ll miss the most. I hope this song reminds listeners to hold on to those moments and love a little louder while they still can.

Pourquoi un auditeur qui ne te connaît pas devrait-il écouter ta musique ?

My music isn’t about perfection; it’s about connection. If you’ve ever felt lost, hopeful, or quietly strong, you’ll find a piece of yourself in my songs. I want my music to feel like comfort — like someone understands you even without words.

Quels sont tes projets futurs ? Où te vois-tu dans 5 ans ?

In the future, I plan to release more original songs that tell deeper stories — not just about love, but about growth, dreams, and finding peace in life’s chaos. I also want to collaborate with other Filipino and international artists, and eventually produce a full album that reflects who I am as both a singer-songwriter and author. Five years from now, I see myself performing on bigger stages, reaching a wider audience, and continuing to write songs and books that touch people’s hearts. I want to build a creative space where music, art, and literature meet — a place that inspires others to chase their own passions and believe in their voice.

Raconte à nos lecteurs un épisode amusant qui s'est produit dans ta carrière d'artiste.

One funny moment in my journey as an artist was when I was composing my very first song. I was singing out loud, completely lost in the emotion — only to realize later that I was totally out of tune the whole time! But I didn’t care; I was just having fun and enjoying the process. That moment reminded me that music doesn’t always have to be perfect — sometimes, the best part is simply letting yourself feel it.
