Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

Ibrahim, known by his stage name IBOMERCY, is a Turkey-based artist who views music as a hobby rather than a source of income. Born in Istanbul, he has a deep-rooted love for music, often falling asleep and waking up to it. His main inspiration comes from Christopher Comstock, popularly known as Marshmello, whose work he greatly admires.

IBOMERCY doesn’t like to limit himself to a single genre but identifies most closely with instrumental music. One of his favorite artists is Sezen Aksu, and he particularly loves her song “Tükeneceğiz.”

While he doesn’t make music for recognition or financial gain, he appreciates both positive and negative feedback on his work. His future plans include exploring different genres and possibly collaborating with other artists. Interestingly, he sees himself working in a hospital in five years, as he is also a healthcare worker.

A humorous episode in his career occurred when he uploaded his own music to Soundcloud manually, not realizing it was already being automatically distributed to the platform. This led to a copyright infringement issue on his own music, which he is currently resolving.

Vertel eens iets over jezelf, wie ben je en waar kom je vandaan?

Hello, I am Ibrahim, aka IBOMERCY. I live in Turkey I was born on 24.03.20 in Istanbul, Türkiye. I am interested in music, I see this job as a hobby, not as income.

Hoe is je passie voor muziek ontstaan? Wie zijn je idolen?

I love listening to music, some nights I sleep listening to music and when I wake up, I wake up to music again. There is nothing that encourages me to make music, there is only one person, and that is Christopher Comstock, aka Marshmello. I love listening to his successful work and it inspires me. So in short, the person who encouraged me to make music is Marshmello.

Wat voor soort muziek maak je?

I don’t think of restricting my music to just one genre; of course, if I had to give a name to the music I make, I would call it instrumental.

Wat is voor jou het belangrijkste nummer? Welke boodschap wil je overbrengen aan de luisteraar?

Actually, I don’t want to limit it to one song, it is Sezen Aksu, an artist who has a special place in my heart and whom I love to listen to. One of my favorite songs is “Tükeneceğiz”.

Waarom zou een luisteraar die jou niet kent naar je muziek luisteren?

Actually, I do this job not to get recognition or make money, but as I said before, I do it purely as a hobby and I see it that way. Of course, I would love for my music to be listened to and appreciated, and I would also love to receive good and bad feedback.

Wat zijn je toekomstige projecten? Waar zie je jezelf over 5 jaar?

My future goals include, of course, continuing my music, trying different genres, meeting different artists and doing business together, if possible. I can say that I see myself working in a hospital after 5 years, because I am a healthcare worker.

Vertel onze lezers een grappige gebeurtenis in je carrière als artiest.

Ah, I don’t know if it’s funny but when I was distributing my music to digital platforms, I didn’t know that the music was automatically added to Soundcloud and I wanted to manually upload the music to my own account and I did. I got copyright infringement on my own music and my music was restricted on soundcloud but it’s being sorted out now, I’m dealing with it right now.
