Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

Interview with Stereo Bit

Jorge, known professionally as Stereo Bit, hails from Chile and has been passionate about electronic music since the age of 15. His journey into music was influenced by his brother, who introduced him to the genre upon returning from a trip to Europe. Inspired by iconic artists like Armin van Buuren, Stereo Bit started mixing music with friends, which eventually led to professional DJing and music production. The Chilean electronic scene was still budding in 2005, but Stereo Bit saw it grow and began performing at private parties before deciding to pursue his passion more seriously.

He refined his DJ and production skills at Casa Sonido, a crucial step in his professional development. His primary genres include electro house and big room house, inspired by main stage sounds and major festivals. His significant track “Holding You Tight” is an emotional piece, reflecting his personal experiences and love for the electro house styles of Avicii and Swedish House Mafia.

Stereo Bit’s music aims to revive the electro house genre, infusing it with new energy while honoring the classic sounds of 2010-2012. He currently juggles music with work at a university and as a consultant, aspiring to eventually support his family through his musical endeavors. Though relatively new to the professional scene, he has a growing fanbase on Spotify and YouTube, particularly in the United States, the Netherlands, Buenos Aires, and Chile. He hopes to build a successful career and has many more stories to share from his experiences as an artist.

Vertel eens iets over jezelf, wie ben je en waar kom je vandaan?

Hello, my name is Jorge, also known as Stereo Bit. I have been passionate about electronic music since I was 15 years old, initially drawn to trance and particularly inspired by Armin van Buuren. This interest led me to learn how to mix music alongside friends who were electronic DJs. In 2005, the electronic music scene was still emerging in Chile, but it gradually gained popularity over the years. I began DJing at private parties with increasing frequency and eventually decided to pursue this hobby more professionally. To further develop my skills, I joined Casa Sonido, where I refined my DJ techniques and learned the art of music production. Today, I have a growing fanbase, primarily on Spotify and YouTube, with listeners mainly from the United States and the Netherlands, and to a lesser extent from Buenos Aires and Chile. I am enthusiastic about my progress and remain committed to continuing my growth as a producer and DJ.

Hoe is je passie voor muziek ontstaan? Wie zijn je idolen?

My passion for music was born since I was little, I always liked music (who doesn’t?) but my intention to become a professional began in 2023…and my passion for electronic music began in 2005, when I was 15 years old. My brother returned from a trip to Europe and passed on his love for electronic music to me, since then it has been my favorite genre.

Wat voor soort muziek maak je?

I primarily create electro house and big room house music, in tribute to the sounds of main stages and major festivals.

Wat is voor jou het belangrijkste nummer? Welke boodschap wil je overbrengen aan de luisteraar?

Holding You Tight” is filled with emotions. I created this track with memories of attending electronic festivals with my now-wife when we were younger. We were both passionate about electro house, especially the styles of Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, and similar artists.

Waarom zou een luisteraar die jou niet kent naar je muziek luisteren?

If you love electro house and big room and are looking for something beyond the classics, my music is for you. I aim to revive electro house, as many of the genre’s greats still play the classics from 2010-2012. I hope to contribute to the genre with tracks that are infused with renewed energy while staying true to the electro house style of 2012.

Wat zijn je toekomstige projecten? Waar zie je jezelf over 5 jaar?

I’m working on an album and several singles, striving to stay true to the 2012 electro house style while also innovating. My goal is to make a living from music within the next five years. Currently, I work at a university and as a consultant, and music contributes very little financially. While I’m not looking to get rich from music, I do hope to support myself and my family through my art, which would be a beautiful achievement.

Vertel onze lezers een grappige gebeurtenis in je carrière als artiest.

My career as an artist is relatively new, though I’ve been a DJ for a long time. It has only been a year since I began taking this seriously. I have many stories from private parties, but I prefer to keep them private, haha. I hope to grow and build a robust career, leading to many more stories to share.
