Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

Julius James, known as Fresh Caps, was born in November 2000 in Adamawa State, Nigeria. I discovered my passion for music at 19, but it wasn’t until I turned 23 that I truly blossomed as a musician. By that time, I have honed my songwriting skills, emerging as a talented singer and rapper with a growing online presence.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

My passion for music ignited when I was captivated by artists like Michael Jackson and Chris Brown. The experience of listening to their songs sparked a fire within me. I then took the next step by joining a church band, all while diligently practicing on my own.

What kind of music do you do?

My love for music fuels my passion for exploring diverse genres. I effortlessly craft songs that fit seamlessly into hip-hop, trap, pop, Afrobeat, and R&B, all while infusing them with heartfelt lyrics.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

“My song, ‘Anchor,’ an R&B melodic tune is set to drop on March 14th, and it embodies themes of resilience, trust, and togetherness. It aims to resonate with every listener in love, helping them navigate challenges.”

Why should a listener who doesn’t know you listen to your music?

“I weave different life themes into my music, ensuring that every listener finds something to resonate with, whether it’s trap, pop, R&B, or any other genre I explore. My goal is to always deliver a message of positivity.”

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

“My future projects are still in the planning stages, but I’m considering dropping an album after building a large fan base. I want to ensure that people experience the impact and joy of my music. I can envision myself garnering millions of streams and going viral online.”

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

“When I tried recording a love song with a high vocal presence, I was drinking too much water and ended up coughing a lot. I had to clear my vocals at the end of each day and even had to re-record some parts two weeks before mixing.”
