Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

Interview with Fredrik Keith Croona of Terrorbit

Fredrik Keith Croona, the creative force behind Terrorbit, hails from Sweden and has been active in the music scene since 2007, primarily in industrial and metal genres. His latest project, Terrorbit, launched in April 2024, draws inspiration from 80s horror and sci-fi movies, blending synthwave, cyberpunk, and dark synth influences to create a unique soundscape. Fredrik, a self-taught musician, focuses on vocals, utilizing growls and screams, and has also honed his skills in music writing and production.

Fredrik’s passion for music stems from his mother’s influence, who exposed him to various genres during his childhood. He was particularly inspired by Phil Anselmo of Pantera, whose vocal style motivated Fredrik to pursue music. Terrorbit’s music combines the nostalgic elements of the 80s with modern production techniques, creating gritty, atmospheric tracks that appeal to fans of cyberpunk aesthetics.

Every song Fredrik creates is a step forward in his artistic journey, with each new track representing progress and learning. For those who enjoy instrumental music inspired by 80s soundtracks, with a twist of cyberpunk and horror themes, Terrorbit offers a fresh and engaging listening experience.

Looking ahead, Fredrik aims to release new music with both Terrorbit and his metal band, Against I. He hopes to expand his fanbase and explore more collaborations over the next five years. A memorable moment in his career occurred during a live performance in Tennessee, USA, where he accidentally threw a microphone off stage while gesturing enthusiastically and had to chase after it, much to the amusement of the audience.

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

My name is Fredrik and I’m from Sweden. I’ve been making music since around 2007 and mostly industrial and metal. My main instrument is my voice, growling and screaming. But I’ve taught myself to write music and producing.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

I’ve always loved music and its always been a big part of my life. My motger used to listen to a lot pf music, so the interest comes from her. When it comes to idols, the main vocalist who made me want to get into doing vocals was Philp Anselmo from Pantera.

What kind of music do you do?

I’d say its a mix of 80s sound but with a more modern production approach. Trying to mix up synthwave with grittyness of cyberpunk and some darker and more atmospheric parts.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

All songs are equally important, because with each new one comes progress. At least thats how I see it. You learn new things and improve.

Why should a listener who doesn’t know you listen to your music?

Well, its easy. If gritty 80s inspired instrumental music is your thing and you like me enjoy cyberpunk aestethics and horror and sci fi. Then give it a shot?

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

My main focus is my metal band Against I which together with Terrorbit will get new releases. As for the future I hope for more collabs and expanding my fanbase of course. A lot can happen in 5 years.

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

Once I performed live in Tennessee USA on stage I was a little bit drunk and was making a gesture with my hand and accidently threw the microphone away and had to run after it.
