This Halloween, country-rock artist Lacie James returns with her third studio album, Thirteen Roads Home, released through Luna Records in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 13-track record blends country roots, Southern rock grit, and soulful blues into a collection that feels both timeless and raw — a road map through heartbreak, self-discovery, and redemption.
Born in Tennessee and raised between Georgia and Arizona, Lacie James grew up surrounded by the hum of her daddy’s band rehearsals and the rhythm of the highway. One night, driving home from one of his gigs, he put on a worn cassette of “Black Velvet.” By the time they hit Tennessee, she knew every lyric — and that she was going to be a singer. That fire still runs through her music today.
Her first record, One Long Goodbye, leaned into classic country storytelling. Her second, A Little Bit of Love, brought out her blues and rock edge. Now with Thirteen Roads Home, she fuses it all — smoky, soulful, and unapologetically Southern.
“This record is a love letter to the road — all the heartbreaks, detours, and moments that make us who we are,” says Lacie.
The album opens with “On Fire”, a slow burn of a song that captures the kind of spark that lingers long after the lights go out. “It’s subtle,” she says, “but it’s about that electricity between two people — the kind you can feel without a word.”
And if “On Fire” strikes a chord, “I Feel It Coming” carries that energy even further. “It’s a slow build,” Lacie smiles. “The kind of moment where everything just falls into rhythm. I think a lot of women will understand it without me having to explain too much.”
Ironically, “All Your Love” was written on one of the rare rainy days in Scottsdale. “In the desert, it threatens to rain far more than it actually rains,” she laughs. “But that day, it poured — and so did that song.” As fate would have it, this fall became the rainiest season in the area since 1957.
Then there’s “When He Loved Me,” recorded in a single, emotional take. “We’d been in the studio all day, and my producer said, ‘Let’s do one more take.’ I didn’t think I had anything left, but something in me came alive. That song is about losing my daddy to cancer. He always believed in me more than I believed in myself. I hope it resonates with anyone who’s ever lost the love they loved the most.”
From the heartbreak of “When He Loved Me” to the fire of “I Feel It Coming”, Thirteen Roads Home is the sound of an artist stepping into her truth — blending pain, passion, and soul into something real.
“I hope when people listen, they feel something honest,” Lacie says. “The road might not always be straight, but there’s beauty in every curve. That’s what this record is about — finding your way back home.”
