Gamma Serpent releases his debut single “Going Home” on August 15, 2025. The electronic track is a tribute to the soundtracks of horror, sci-fi, exploitation, and B-movies (specifically those from Italy and the United States) from the 1970s and 1980s.
For a more detailed genre description, “Going Home” has elements of chillout, downtempo, ambient, and synthpop/wave.
“Categorizing music into specific genres isn’t my thing, especially since I don’t consider myself an expert in any of them. I make music that I want to have a certain feel, and I think the musical genres and subgenres mentioned above are a pretty good way to describe my style.”
A sci-fi music video – made with AI, but to look like a weird old low-budget film
Along with the single release, Gamma Serpent is also releasing an atmospheric music video filled with space themes. The video serves as a visual extension of the song’s soundscape (or soundspace). The video was created almost entirely with artificial intelligence and edited with Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro software.
“The idea was to make the video look like a low-budget sci-fi film and the end result pretty much looks like that with out-of-focus and blurred shots of UFO’s, crop circles and spacey stuff”.
“I have a background in punk and alternative rock, but I have always had a soft spot for electronic music – and weird movies. ‘Going Home’ is my love letter to the eerie and atmospheric soundtracks that shaped many low-budget genre films of the 70s and 80s,” Gamma Serpent explains. “While not all of the films were top-notch or even decent, their soundtracks were often at least intriguing.”
“Going Home” is scheduled for release on most major streaming and download platforms on August 15, 2025.
