Where Independent Music Finds Its Voice

From Windows 7 to 3 Million Streams: The Rise of CONFIGBAN

written by CONFIGBAN and WhatsMusic.de

Hailing from the Netherlands, CONFIGBAN is an innovative force blending HipHop, RnB, Trap, and experimental sounds into something unmistakably his own. Known for his energetic, dark, and emotionally charged production style, CONFIGBAN creates music that doesn’t just play — it hits.

His journey began at just 12 years old, when he discovered a free DAW on Windows 7 and started experimenting for hours on end. What started as curiosity quickly became obsession. By the age of 18, he transitioned to FL Studio, diving deep into mixing, mastering, and crafting beats that carried his raw emotion. For CONFIGBAN, music was never about fame or money — it was about expression. It became the one place where he could pour his heart into sound and translate feelings into something tangible.

A lifelong admirer of Michael Jackson, whom he discovered at just seven years old, CONFIGBAN was captivated by the rhythm, emotion, and timeless energy in his music. That early inspiration shaped his desire to create music that gives listeners a powerful feeling — the same magic he once felt himself.

Influenced by boundary-pushing artists and producers like Travis Scott, Kanye West, Yeat, BNYX, and Sapjer, CONFIGBAN developed a mindset rooted in individuality. Rather than following trends, he consciously chooses his own direction. In a modern industry where originality can be rare, he thrives in flow state — consistently pushing out sounds that feel fresh, unexpected, and emotionally honest.

His breakthrough moment came when he surpassed 3 million total streams, gaining attention from music press platforms and sparking viral traction on TikTok, where listeners began sharing and reacting to his sound. It marked the moment his vision started reaching a global audience.

One of his most defining projects to date is THE SIN CITY BOYS, a collaborative album with artists Stryker and Constant.ine. The project represents CONFIGBAN’s full creative vision brought to life through collaboration — a body of work he still considers his personal favorite.

Currently, CONFIGBAN is working on new music with collaborators from the United States, expanding his sound beyond borders and preparing for his next evolution.

At his core, CONFIGBAN creates for the people. His mission isn’t self-glorification — it’s connection. He aims to inspire, to move, and to make listeners feel seen through his music. Every track carries his vision, dedicated to the fans and die-hards who connect deeply with his sound.

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

My name is Sem David, aka CONFIGBAN. I am a music producer from the Netherlands.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

Michael Jackson, when I was 7 years old I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson, his music had something special in it, the rythm, the feeling, the emotion, I wanted to create this excact feeling. Now I am 23 years old, at the moment my idols are Travis Scott, Yeat, Ye, and the music producers BNYX & Sapjer.

What kind of music do you do?

I mostly do Trap/HipHop, but I like to experiment with Experimental and RnB.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

My most important song is “SIN CITY BOYS” from my album “THE SIN CITY BOYS”. The song is about a city full of criminality, people with lust, wasting their lifes. But in this same city their is a small group of boys trying to get out of it. It basically sums up a part of my youth.

Why should a listener who doesn’t know you listen to your music?

Everything I do, I do for the listener, I am not here for fame, money, or self-glorification. I want to share my heart and feelings through my music.

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I’d like to see myself with bigger artists in 5 years, so I can share my vision with them. I am working on a few new albums, I already got some American artists that are collabing with my on these albums, so soon more!

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

A few years back, I went to Lisbon, my laptop crashed while I was in Lisbon and erased al my music files, so I was not able to create any kind of music on my laptop at the time, the WiFi in our hotel was also not working properly, so I couldnt download my backup. So I decided to create the sounds myself, I setup a microphone, and started smashing my desk to recreate drums sounds, and it worked out really well to be honest.
