Jorge Natalin Shaman: From Lament to a Completed Tribute
A musical legacy of loss, remembrance, and transformation
Amsterdam, April 25, 2025 – With his new album Jorge Natalin Shaman, Amsterdam-based musician Jorge Natalin – the alter ego of guitarist and conceptual artist Arno Tijnagel – presents a deeply personal work that unites remembrance and experimentation. The record continues and completes the story begun with the Lament for the Shaman EP, transforming its instrumental lament into a fully realized narrative of sound and words.
From Lament for the Shaman to Jorge Natalin Shaman
Released earlier in 2025, Lament for the Shaman EP was a six-track instrumental mini-album that paid tribute to a close friend, the “Lonely Shaman.” A final, chance encounter with her—overflowing with inspiration—made the news of her self-chosen passing even more incomprehensible. The EP became a quiet lament, a sonic space of memory, transformation, and letting go.
Completing the story with Shaman
Yet the journey was not over. With Jorge Natalin Shaman, the artist brings closure by adding voice to the instrumental narrative. The album combines the six original tracks with two new compositions:
-
“Anima Solar” – an experimental instrumental inspired by a song from the Shaman herself.
-
“Under the Current” – a vocal track that gives words to the story, adding a new emotional dimension.
Together, they turn Shaman into more than an extended edition—it is the completed tribute, bridging grief and artistic clarity.
Jorge Natalin: avant-garde intimacy
Known for describing his work as “modern, contemporary, genre-bending, experimental,” Jorge Natalin mostly operates solo as a guitarist and conceptual artist. His previous works, from The Somewhat Bare EP (2024) to live collaborations like Souvenirs – Paradiso LIVE!, explore the boundaries between avant-garde sound and intimate storytelling.
With Jorge Natalin Shaman, he achieves a rare balance: a deeply personal album that resonates as a universal legacy.
