Interview with Roby Koenigs

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

My name is Robert Königshofer that makes music under the artist name Roby Koenigs. I am a music producer, beatmaker and former DJ based in Zagreb, Croatia.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

My music journey started way back in 2015. When I was listening to EDM. One day I listened to Avicii – The Nights and I was so impressed with his production. I was really intrigued to remake his track, and after lots of failures I finally managed to copy his sound. And then I started working on my own music. My biggest idol besides Avicii is also Lil Peep since I really enjoy the emo trap music scene. Lil Peep talked about real life problems that every single person can relate to. His messages through his songs were simply beautiful.

What kind of music do you do?

I used to do EDM way back. Every single genre from Tropical House to Dubstep. But now I’m based in the Emo trap community. But I might do an EDM return song in tge near future ;)

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

Actually the song of mine that I personally find most important is called White Paws. That is a song that I made after my dog companion sadly died after a long struggle with disease. But for my listeners. I like making beats and sometimes I sing too, so every single song of mine has some kind of meaning. Also real life problems. Most of them are about heartbreak, emptiness and depression. My goal is to make someones life better through music. Not everything in life is so dark, there is always sunshine somewhere. :)

Why should a listener who doesn’t know you listen to your music?

I try to express my feelings through music. And I am a really empathetic person, so I can easily understand everyone’s problems. I want to heal those problems with my music.

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Currently I’m just making some beats, but who knows.. We will see, it is really hard so succeed in the music industry. But I’ll never quit, even if it just stays as a hobby. I want to leave something behind me.

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

Well I was playing a party on a New Years eve couple of years ago when I was a DJ and all of the sudden my laptop broke out of power and there was dead silence for a couple of minutes.. Kinda awkward, but hey everyone enjoyed it haha!
