The Mxxd is a South African melodic rapper, singer, and songwriter from Potchefstroom. He focuses on environmental and political issues, love affairs, and world brutalities. His debut song, “Wasted Love,” is his most important song, conveying the message of disappointment and hurt from lost love. The Mxxd’s music is for the people, and he plans to release at least one album and EP every year and hopes to be touring the world and helping people in five years. During one of his shows, his producer/DJ was nowhere to be found, and he had to get on stage without him, which was a funny moment for him.

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

Boitumelo Motsumi best known by his stage name “The Mxxd” is a South African melodic rapper, singer, songwriter. A musician from Potchefstroom in the North West province. The Mxxd is an motivational melodic rapper. His main focus in music is environmental and political issues, love affairs and world brutalities. He firstly amazed fans by releasing Wasted Love in 2021 on his SoundCloud account, Wasted Love is what can be called his debut song. He is well know for his melodic style on wavy beats and rhythmic lines.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

I was introduced to this music by my siblings, they used to listen to HipHop music so much that I started to fall in love with it at 8 years. I listened to Lil Wayne, Jay Z and Kanye West growing up. Fell in love with the likes of Juice Wrld, XXXTentacion and Lil Durk as a youth.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

Wasted Love. It’s about he message that we have to people we love when the love is no longer there. The disappointment in our hearts and the hurt we go through. Steady reminiscing about the past

Why should a listener who doesnโ€™t know you listen to your music?

I feel like my music is for the people. I am very sensitive when I choose the words for my songs to accompany everyone.

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I’m planning on releasing at least an album and an e.p every year with a couple of singles. I see myself in billboards, touring the world and helping better other people’s lives.

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

I had a show in my city, it was delayed because of a couple things that had to be done. So my producer/dj the person behind my songs had to go somewhere thinking the show will start later. The show started and he was nowhere to be found and at that time I had to get on stage.
