Interview with DeePhi Music

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

I am an independent artist, producing chill beats to soothe our soul and get relaxed. My home studio is in the south of France where I am also playing live DJ sets with the sounds I produced and the ones I select each week for my Spotify playlist “Chill Beats For Anytime”. Being a music addict, I have also experience as side musician in local music bands (bass, backing vocals, percussions), as well as music contest promoter.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

Since years I am playing music in music bands from various styles (jazz, rock, pop, folk). Indeed I have learned music when I was a child. My idols are diverse as is my musical experience: Depeche Mode, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Carl Cox, Saint Germain, Melody Gardot, Avishai Cohen, french bands like Noir Desir or Manu Chao

What kind of music do you do?

As being in the first place a bass player, my music is rooted to a bass line or a beat. And to provide the taste of chill, light layers of synths or melodic guitars are thoroughly created and softly added to the mix. All my singles so far are instrumental tracks to let the listener dream and imagine his own words. Some singles are more oriented to lofi with reduced low and high frequencies. Some others are more deep house and there I let the kick take the first place to warm you up.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

For the moment my most important song would be Magic Ride. Indeed it is about staying in the flow like an endless ride and it seems that some listeners have experienced this while listening to the song. Hence my choice

Why should a listener who doesn’t know you listen to your music?

You may give a try to my music as this is the kind of music that may escort you the whole day: while waking up, while working and staying focus, while chilling in the afternoon, while dining with good friends or just lounging in a cosy sofa!

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

My future projects are to develop my offer as a live performer: more live sequences during my DJ set, performance in duo with another DJ, as well as performance with a VJ. I am also working on developing my YouTube channel with more remixes and collaboration with singers.

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

I was playing live and a young boy was very interested by the machines I was using. While I was focusing on performing a transition between 2 tracks, he apparently modified the beat of my next song by touching one of the knobs. So what a surprise when the song was played at much higher tempo! It was quite funny to hear the song at this tempo and I could not really slow the song. Unexpected improvisation sequence :-)
