“Starting the new year with a BANG! J.Switay produced, wrote, engineered, and performed “10 Minutes” himself. The vibe follows “Euphoria”, his most popular release but with a little different spice.” The single will be released on Jan 17, 2022.

Interview with J.Switay

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

I am a musician, producer, artist, and audio engineer from Atlanta, Georgia. I started out playing piano at the age of 5, then around 12 years old started to mess around with music production. Years later I graduated Georgia State University with a music industry degree. Over the past 2 years I have decided to move from more behind the scenes (beat making/post production/etc..), to being an artist myself and releasing my own music with my vocals as lead. It has been extremely fulfilling and have reached some amazing milestones along the way. 2021 was my first year releasing music with myself as the main artist, and I learned so much. I feel that 2022 will be an exciting year for my artistry, because I am just now seeing what heights I can reach sonically.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

From as early as I can remember, my favorite toy as a kid was this cheap toy keyboard. It was simple but I would spend hours playing around with it. My parents were smart enough to put me in piano lessons because of that, and from there I continued to be interested in piano, but also in music in general. I have so many idols, I cant even really name any cause I’ll leave some out! I listen to all genres of music, but I am really inspired by any artist or group that makes original/unique music.

What kind of music do you do?

I make all kinds of music, but I would say it is mostly a blend Hip-hop, EDM, R&B and Pop music.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

My biggest song (as far as numbers go) is my track “Euphoria”. I wanted to make something similar, so my newest release “10 Minutes” is in that same vein. I think this is a cool mix of genres and am very excited to see how it is received. The message that I think is most important from this track, is that life is stressful and often times love is stressful. Though conversely, love is sometimes the best relief from stress.

Why should a listener who doesnโ€™t know you listen to your music?

I don’t make songs… I make atmospheres, or worlds, that you can get lost in for 2-3 minutes.

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I want to build up an audience so that when I release my first album, I can make sure I have an extensive tour and I am able to offer my best self at every show. Also, for my first album, I want offer the best music I can make. Though that may not be for another year or two. As for 5 years, I have no idea lol! I couldn’t even tell you 5 days. I just want to take it one song at a time and see where the road leads me.

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

I had a friend go home after we did a show one time and he got home and slept on the couch. Well turns out, we had such a crazy time at the show, he didn’t make it back to his house!! He had spent the night on a random strangers couch not even close to his house!! That was an interesting way to be woken up!
