Their sound is a kaleidoscopic mix of 80s post-punk influenced by the likes of Joy Division, Depeche Mode and David Bowie (Berlin trilogy era) with modern day synth-laden electronica, see Underworld, Unkle, Massive Attack.

Interview with Land

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

We are an electronic band from Rimini, Italy. We have 20 years of activity behind us. We are currently mainly a studio project…you know…covid, restrictions of various kinds have led us to focus more on production than concerts, at least for the time being. We are: Max (Massimiliano Simonetti) on vocals Folco (Folco Fornari): electronic drums Nik (Nicola Nicolini): synth, programming, bass and ocasionally guitars

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

Passion for music has been an integral part of all of us practically since we were born! Our strength lies precisely in having similar musical tastes. We are strongly influenced by 80s wave and post-punk (from Joy Division to Talk Talk) but also by more recent bands such as Underworld, Massive Attack, Air, Royksopp, Washed Out and literally thousands of other great bands. The untouchables one step above the rest remain for us David Bowie, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Brian Eno.

What kind of music do you do?

Our music is exactly the result of all the musical influences I mentioned above; we have always tried to be sincere and honest, with the conviction that this is the right way to create music with its own original stylistic signature, without following what is fashionable at the moment, but at the same time with great interest, openness and curiosity for the most interesting new things around today.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

I would say that there is no particular song, in the sense that we always put the most passion into each piece. Then of course some songs succeed better than others. For me in particular I would say: Dream7 Chankpe Opi Our Own tomorrow (alternative mix) (you can find these tracks on our Spotify page) The message you can find in all our songs, from the most intimate to those with social themes, is always one: don’t give up, never get tired of looking for a light and if you fall, do everything you can to get back on your feet… and fast!

Why should a listener who doesnโ€™t know you listen to your music?

I wouldn’t recommend our music to just anyone! But if you love electronic music (from Depeche Mode to Massive Attack and Underworld) that is both intriguing, dark, involving but at the same time experimental in its approach to sounds, you might love what we do.

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

The project we are working on is a new e.p. we are writing and recording at the moment with the same title as the current single: Limbo. Five years from now? Who knows? I hope there will always be music in our lives.

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

I don’t know if it’s funny, but about a year ago we found ourselves playing in a contest with dozens of other bands and the time for soundcheck was practically non-existent. Kind of like jumping through hoops! Fortunately we managed even though the conditions for a decent sound were absurd to say the least.
