Interview with Alex Sandra

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

My name is Alex Sandra (Aleksandra Marshaniia), I’m an independent pop artist based in San Francisco, California. I was born in Moscow to Georgian parents and has spent her life travelling the world performing. While living in China she performed for many well known brands including Maserati, Hilton Hotels, Samsung, Fashion Week, and many more

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

From early childhood music was a big part of my life. Unfortunately I come from a dysfunctional family and music was my way to escape from cruel reality. It was giving me hope and strength. Having started my career as a rock singer, now I prefer pop. I released my first EP Supergirl in 2021 as a solo pop artist. I take inspiration from Adele, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Lady Gaga as well as Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran

What kind of music do you do?

Pop and dance music

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

Take Me Home is one of my favourite songs so far. I’m going to release it on July 15th 2022. I wrote this song with my cowriters few months ago. As I have mentioned before, when I was a little kid the best way to escape cruel reality was to dive into the world of music, full of adventures and colours. Take Me Home means a lot to me because It is my escape song

Why should a listener who doesn’t know you listen to your music?

I think my music has a great vibe to dance along with and it has something everyone can relate to. I write about my personal experience and feelings. I hope that my songs can inspire you or make your day better.

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

My plans are to release 3 more singles for 2022 and an EP for 2023. Right now I’m expecting a baby. I’ll be taking a 4 month break from live performances, to spent time with my newborn and family, and after that be back to doing live shows. In 5 years I see myself touring worldwide, performing as an original pop artist for festivals and collaborating with other artists.

Tell our readers a funny episode that happened in your career as an artist.

– It was a show for a festival in Southern China. It is extremely hot there, especially in summer. During the show I didn’t notice that my red lipstick had melted. Because of the microphone and intense dancing it spread all over my face. Lipstick was everywhere, even on my forehead. I looked like a clown! It was a complete disaster, especially when my face was streamed on the huge screen. Afterwards I went to the red carpet for an interview and no one even mentioned that I looked like the Joker. I guess they thought that it was part of my stage costume
