Interview with Peter Barr

Tell us about yourself, who are you and where do you come from?

I’m a Drummer, Singer, & Songwriter based in Brooklyn. Born in Rockford , Illinois. I play drums with Paul Beaubrun (Arcade Fire) and write songs from my heart. My next song arrives in stores this Friday 7-22-22.

How was your passion for music born? Who are your idols?

I listened to many popular Rock artists when I was a kid and had lessons with Cheap Trick’s drummer (Bun E Carlos) before going to Boston to study Jazz. Some of my early favs were ; Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh & The Cure.

What kind of music do you do?

My music is eclectic and spanning from , Rock, Reggae, Disco, New wave, to Jazz and folkloric drumming from Africa and the Carribean.

What is the most important song for you? What message do you want to convey to the listener?

The song that plays in my mental iTunes when I wake up is most interesting to me sometimes it’s something I heard on the radio, other times it’s a song I played drums on and other tunes still it’s me singing. Lately I’m waking up to my latest song due out this Friday “Underwater” is a summer beach anthem with a flare for nostalgia.

Why should a listener who doesn’t know you listen to your music?

I’ve dedicated my entire life to making music that reaches you and takes you on a journey to some of my favorite places and times.

What are your future projects? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I’m hoping to continue writing and releasing songs, I see myself releasing more regularly and making more music videos. Also hoping to get married someday..
